Description

Four pieces of Morgantown Glass juice glasses.

Famous “Golfball ” stemware was made from 1928 to 1932.

In 1899 Frank Bannister formed Morgantown Glass Works in Morgantown, West Virginia.

They produced hand blown glass, and were all clear.

In 1903 they changed their name to Economy Tumbler Company; and in the 1910’s started introducing colors.

They wouldn’t go back to their original name, Morgantown Glass until 1929.

Morgantown Glass Works closed on October 15, 1937 for unknown reasons but many believe it was due to the Great Depression.

In January 1939, they reopened again under the name Morgantown Glassware Guild.

They produced stemware and tableware in a whole slew of new colors and became popular again for being “American Made.”

In 1958 the company produced its first catalog called ‘Décor by Morgantown’.

In 1961, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy purchased Morgantown glass for the White House’s State dining room.

In April 1965, Fostoria Glass Company bought Morgantown and in 1971, they closed for good.

These pieces fill 5 1/2 ounces, and measure 4 7/8″ tall.

There is no damage.

A nice addition to or start on your Morgantown Glass collection!

Great display or on your table!
