1897-A beautiful 0 size ladies pendant style pocket watch by Elgin National Watch Company. The ornate 14k gold hunter case features rose, yellow, and green gold details in a floral design on front and rear. The rear bears a small melee diamond mounted in the center. The single-sunk white enamel dial bears roman numerals and hash marks in the hour chapter, and the seconds dial bears black arabic numerals in 10-second intervals and hash marks. The hands are blued spades. The tip of the minute hand seems bent. The face is inscribed Elgin. Stem wind, stem set. A paper label in the rear case indicates Essex/ 14k/ Superior/ Trade Mark/ No. 655864/ This certifies that the accompanying/ case stamped with our trade mark/ is made of two plates of solid 14k gold/ with a plate of hard composition/ between and is guaranteed/ to wear/ 25 Years/ Courvoisier, Wilcox Mfg Co. The 3/4 plate 7 jewel movement is inscribed Safety Pinion/ Elgin Nat`l. Watch Co./ U.S.A. and the serial number, 6752213, dates the watch to c1897. A gorgeous little watch in near-mint condition. The gross weight of the watch is 1.33 ounces, with approximately half that being gold content.
