STUNNING BEAUTY FROM THE SIMPSON COLLECTION!
Here’s a true beauty to include in your collection, one with attractive reflective surfaces and full, vivid original orange-olive color. This coin is sharply struck with an impressive appearance that borders on Gem Proof quality. This rarity had a mintage of only 113. Only 45-60 are estimated to exist today by PCGS. Also, the 1902 Proof $10 Liberty Head Eagle is rarely offered at auction. According to PCGS, from 1990 to 2023, there were only fifteen auction appearances of Proof 64 examples.
The Simpson Collection was considered to be among the finest modern U.S. coin collections ever. It was built by the Texas businessman and owner of the Texas Rangers baseball team, Bob R. Simpson. It contained extraordinary early U.S. coins, patterns, Proofs, and major rarities. Heritage Auctions began dispersing it in 2020, and by 2024 sales of the Simpson Collection had exceeded $116 million. Significantly, some of the extraordinary coins from the Simpson Collection, including this stunner, have been switched over from PCGS/NGC holders to CAC Grading slabs.
