This 1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar, struck at the Carson City Mint, stands as a numismatic treasure from America's Old West. Struck from silver from the famous Comstock Lode, It is among the most desired Morgan dollar issues, along with the 1893-S.
Unlike many of the earlier "CC" dollars, however, numerous examples of the 1889-CC silver dollars were paid out, mostly in 1889. The original mintage was 350,000. NGC Coin Explorer writes, “Unfortunately, it seems that a majority of [1889-CC dollars] eventually made their way to the melting pot, making [them] even rarer than the low mintage suggests.”
