The king’s portrait executed by Wyon on the issue appears to add a new degree of prominence to Merlen's already flattering effigy drawn from the style of Sir Francis Chantrey. Upon this golden numismatic canvas, Wyon idealized his features and turned a blind eye towards the king's real-life portly stature.
